History is my favorite academic discipline. I am fascinated by people's motives, individually or as a group, for their points of view and actions. Motivational impulses are created or altered by a person, movement, weather, topography, or other attributes. My B.A. and M.A. degrees are in history, bolstered by considerable English and visual communication study. My academic concentration is U.S. history between World Wars I and II.

My forty-year oil and gas landman career exposed me to different U.S. societies, each with distinct vocabularies, language usage, and social perspectives. Each locale I worked in introduced me to new social constructs with their social and political perspectives and hierarchical customs. The job proved rewarding and educational, which is what I write about.
